My name is Janet Kester and I am a LMSW, or Licensed Master of Social Work, specializing in Clinical Practice.
I earned my masters degree from Wayne State University, in Detroit and I currently reside in Southeast Michigan. As the title of my blog indicates, I am a Christian marriage counselor, but also practice individual and family therapy as well. Other areas of expertise include, helping those suffering depression and anxiety, women’s issues, domestic abuse/violence, family conflicts, difficulties adjusting to life challenges, grief and loss, and life coaching.
I’ve been a Christian marriage counselor and psychotherapist for many years now. I’ve had the privilege to work with countless couples with just about every marital issue you can imagine. A veritable “A to Z” list of marriage strife has crossed the threshold of my office door. So please trust me when I tell you, that you are not alone, no matter what situation you may be facing in your marriage! I have seen so many marriages that were headed for certain divorce completely turned around and completely healed. The couples in those marriages today are happier and enjoying each other like they never imagined possible. Please know that can happen for your relationship as well!
In case you’re curious, the reason I’m considered a “Christian” marriage counselor is first and foremost because I am a born-again Christian myself and active member of my church, Northridge Church in Plymouth, Michigan. I also believe God is the author of marriage and desires to see couples and families living happy, abundant lives. I do want to stress that though I am considered a “Christian” marriage counselor, I do see couples from all walks of faith, as well as interfaith couples. Even though I believe all truth stems from God, and my practice is faith-based, my true desire is to help all married couples have a happier, healthier, more vibrant marriage! It is the wisdom and love of God that I pray flows through me when I counsel troubled couples.
